The Quiet Few is Opening New Location in South Boston

May 26, 2023

It always feels good to celebrate a win. And call this a big one: Small Victories — a new bar and restaurant from the team behind beloved East Boston whiskey bar, the Quiet Few — is slated to open late this year in South Boston.

“Small Victories will be very much aligned with the Quiet Few, only if TQF had a couple Monster Energy drinks,” owner Josh Weinstein tells Eater.

Expect burgers, perfect for fans of the Quiet Few’s patties that are masterpieces of spice- and whiskey-marinated meat topped with a wealth of toppings, on the menu of the new location. Weinstein first teased the spot in early 2020, and at the time it seemed to be headed to either East Boston or Southie. Plans went on hold during the pandemic — with Weinstein certainly busy enough, as one of the most vocal supporters of the push to allow to-go cocktails. Now, Weinstein tells Eater that he’s currently awaiting permitting for the new location at 400 Dorchester Street in South Boston. The 6-story building in Andrew Square was completed in October 2021, and is a mix of residential and commercial spaces.

The patio also opened this week at the Quiet Few in Eastie, so go ahead and raise a few pickle backs in honor of the forthcoming spot.

Memorial Day Weekend Food News

Besides Boston Calling and its host of local food vendors — and do check out the lineup of talented queer musicians at the Pride Calling music festival on June 4, with headliner Trina Rockstarr — there’s lots to do this weekend.

James Beard-nominated Derrick Teh brings his Malaysian popup, SEKALI, to Lamplighter Brewing Co. in Cambridge on May 28, from 4:30 p.m. until sold out. Savor satays of marinated chicken thighs with chunky peanut butter sauce, savory cakes with lime leaf, lemongrass and coconut milk, and other delights. Plus, you can pick up jars of Teh’s legendary chili crisp and kaya jam made with pandan.

A taste of Sicily sails into Seaport’s Superette with the new Alileo Vino e Snak Bar pop-up, which launched on May 22. Boston-based Sicilian natural wine brand, Alileo, is behind the piazza-inspired experience, which brings a vintage Fiat, a food truck, and lounge seating to the neighborhood. Drop in to enjoy wines, gelato, and other snacks, with events planned at the courtyard shopping destination throughout the summer.

And speaking of shopping, the SoWa open-air market and its food trucks return to 500 Harrison Ave. on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Poolside Bites

RTP — the city’s only rooftop pool with public access — once again opens atop the Colonnade Hotel on May 30. There, you can take a dip while swimming in views of the whole city, and picking your way through a menu of bites like Caribbean chicken tenders, plus salads, sandwiches, and more. Cabanas with chaise lounges, charging stations, and TVs are also available for “working from home.”
