8 Produce-Packed Recipes to Make the Most of the Farmers Market
It’s high time to welcome back the Farmers Market Challenge. We’ve reached Peak Produce, a.k.a. the most wonderful time of the year. Ears of corn are stacked into pyramids, pints of berries are checkerboarding tables, and mountains of zucchini catch our eye from the other side of the market. This year we’ve got eight brand-new recipes from the Test Kitchen: three meals, three sides-slash-snacks, and two desserts.
Each one highlights a different summer stunner, like sheet-pan chicken and peaches cooked entirely under the broiler. Or spiced, brown-buttered tomatoes, which would happily accompany any and every protein (try grilled sausage or a cold bean salad). And don’t miss out on our oh-so-buttery skillet cake that features cooked and raw raspberries (you get the best of both worlds, etc.). So grab your largest tote and floppiest hat—the farmers market is waiting.
Find every sun-ripened recipe below. Can you make them all before the season’s over? Go for it! We believe in you. And tag us on social @bonappetitmag when you hit the table. —Rebecca Firkser, Test Kitchen editor
And while you’re here, check out some editions of the Farmers Market Challenge from years past.
Spaghetti With So Much Zucchini
The simple spaghetti you’ll have on repeat. Loosely inspired by pasta amatriciana, a few pounds of zucchini stand in for tomatoes.
Blistered Romano Beans With Chile Butter
A summer side with main dish energy. Serve alongside any grilled protein, from chicken breasts to salmon fillets.
Korean-Style Stuffed Peppers
Zesty jalapeño halves make the perfect vehicle for these crunchy, meaty snacks, primed to pair with cold beer.
Pork Tenderloin With Street Corn
An ultra-savory way to show off sweet corn. Stir-frying tenderloin slices makes this dinner doable on any given night.
Spiced Brown Butter Tomatoes
From our It’s That Simple column—because it really is. A good personal goal is to eat these daily from now until Memorial Day.
Sheet-Pan Hot Honey Chicken and Peaches
No grill needed for this just-charred-enough sweet and spicy chicken. A broiler gets the job done in no time.
Raspberry–Brown Butter Skillet Cake
This cake is assembled right in the skillet, no mixing bowls needed. Who needs dirty dishes when you could be in the sun?
Blueberry Cornmeal Shortcakes
Give strawberries a break this summer. These crisp and golden shortcakes spotlight juicy blueberries instead.
