Best Healthy Snacks to Buy That Actually Taste Good (2026)
As Bon Appétit’s resident snackers (conveniently seated across from each other in the office), we spend a lot of time passing snacks over our monitors between writing sessions and meetings. At this point, we know a thing or two about healthy snacks—as nebulous as the term healthy may be. We’re constantly on the lookout for little treats between meals that also feel satiating and nutrient-rich, but are more exciting than an apple or a handful of nuts.
Of course, we also want snacks that taste really good—the kind of snacks that tempt us to eat the entire bag in one sitting. Sometimes that means nut-butter-filled dates, while other times, what we really want is a bag of sweet potato chips. In general, we reach for healthy snacks with protein (from nuts, beans, or meat), healthy fats, and fiber.
Could you make your own healthy snacks, like these nut butter granola bars? Yes. But sometimes you just want a quick bite that requires absolutely no effort. Everything on this list is store-bought, and since the market for healthy snacks is constantly growing, we’ll be trying all the newest ones and updating this list on a regular basis. Read on to see our favorites based on years of snacking.
Bjornqorn
Bjornqorn
Savory 12-Pack Mix
Bjornqorn
Amazon
Life is full of important lessons, like that popcorn is better solar-popped and lightly coated with nutritional yeast—Bjornqorn taught me this. The Upstate New York-based brand uses reflective mirrors that focus the sun’s rays on its kettles to pop its corn. The result is delightfully airy popcorn that, with just the right dose of salt and nutritional yeast, becomes addictively tasty despite its simplicity. I love the classic, but the spicy, which has added jalapeño pepper, has become my latest vice. —K.K.
Wilde Chips
Wilde
Protein Chips Variety Pack
Amazon
Meat snacks can be hit or miss for me, but these chips from Wilde are a definite hit. They’re made from chicken breast, egg whites, and bone broth, which may sound unusual, but the result is a deeply savory, ultra-crunchy chip that’s got ten grams of protein per serving and is infinitely more satisfying than a bag of Lays. The Nashville Hot is my current favorite, but the brand also makes Sea Salt and Vinegar, Barbecue, and Himalayan Sea Salt if you’re looking for a more classic flavor option. —A.C.

Nufs Sea Salt Crispy Crackers
Amazon
I grew up on mostly Ritz and Saltines, but these days I tend to gravitate towards crackers with some oomph like nuts, seeds, or fun flavor combinations. Nufs makes crackers free of gluten, dairy, and seed oils, and are just as good eaten on their own straight out of the bag as with cheese or a dip. The crackers, which come in sea salt, hot honey, and everything bagel varieties, pack just enough subtle flavor without being overpowering and are the perfect size for snacking (they also make “plank crackers” for a wider canvas). They nail the texture—they're just crisp enough, and boast a nice heft from the combination of almond, rice, and cassava flours. —K.K.

I know, I know. Whether or not bone broth counts as a snack is perhaps debatable. But the broths from Brodo have up to 10 grams of protein per pouch and are exactly what I want to sip at 3pm on an 18° day (or when I'm being blasted by office AC). I’m partial to the “Deeply Rooted” flavor, which is chicken stock laced with ginger and turmeric, but the brand also makes a handful of other kinds of broth. There’s a coconut, curry and lime one that’s easily my second favorite of the bunch, plus plain chicken, beef, and mushroom offerings that are equally as great for sipping as they are for jumpstarting a weeknight dinner. —A.C.
Chia Smash Bites
Smash Foods
Snack Bites Variety Pack
Amazon
I aspire to make my own nut butter protein bites at home, but Smash Foods' snack bites are so good that I honestly don't have to. The jammy nut butter bites, which taste and look homemade (in a good way), come in bags of five each and have seven to nine grams of protein per pack. The best part is that the ingredients are ones you could find in your own kitchen. The bites star Smash Foods' chia-studded fruit jams, which get their sweetness from date syrup and lemon juice, and your preferred nut butter. There’s peanut butter with grape jam, sunflower butter with strawberry, cashew butter with blueberry, and my personal favorite, the chocolate peanut butter with raspberry. They scratch the itch for a PB&J craving and also have enough protein to hold you over until your next meal. —K.K.

While I’m a big proponent of making your own hummus, the truth is that more often than not these days I've been buying it from the store—and Little Sesame is hands down my favorite brand. I’m obsessed with their flavored offerings (the Caramelized Onion will change your life) and limited-edition drops (like a recent habanero collab with Yellowbird), but the classic hummus is great too. I love how tahini-forward it is, not to mention the fact that it's as impossibly smooth and creamy as the very best restaurant hummus. The classic flavor also comes in snack cups, which are the ideal thing to take to the office with a bag of pita chips or carrot sticks for when that 3pm slump hits. —A.C.
Stellar Eats Single Servings

Instant Treat: Fudge Brownie In A Cup
Amazon
The mug cake trend has had a few resurgences and for good reason—who wouldn’t want dessert for one whipped up in a few short minutes at the drop of a hat? Most importantly, you don’t have to turn on your oven in the dead of summer. Naturally, I was thrilled to see the latest release of Instant Treats from Stellar Eats, my go-to brand for gluten-free baking mixes. They’re single-serve portions of their mixes like banana bread, carrot cake, and fudge brownie (my personal go-to) and are ready to eat in less than two minutes—all you need to do is pour the contents into a mug, add an ingredient or two like water or oil as instructed, and patiently wait a few minutes for your cake to cook and cool. —K.K.
Seven Sundays Cereal

PB Puffs
Seven Sundays (Variety Pack)
Target
I discovered Seven Sundays while testing protein cereals and quickly became obsessed. I loved every variety, from the Super Fruity to the Cocoa Pebbles-like Cocoa Crunch, but recently I’ve been all in on the PB Puffs. Like the rest of the protein cereal lineup, this new offering has a short ingredient list full of foods you’ve actually heard of—corn, oats, maple syrup, peanuts, cocoa powder, and the like. I like to sprinkle it over yogurt or eat it with milk in the morning, or snack on it by the handful when I’m in need of a mid-workday pick-me-up. —A.C.
Ashapops
AshaPops Chili-Lime Popped Water Lily Seeds, Pack of 6
Amazon
Ashapops
These popped water lily seeds are vegan, gluten- and corn-free, and non-GMO, but it’s their fluffy yet crunchy texture—somewhere between popcorn and cheese puffs—that keeps me coming back for that next handful. To make this super-snack, the seeds from the Indian water lily plant Euryale Ferox are baked and then seasoned with flavorings like Himalayan pink salt to turmeric garlic to chili. The nostalgia-inducing vegan cheese flavor reminds me of the Pirate’s Booty aged white cheddar puffs I used to find in my lunchbox. And while the price can be steep ($32.99 for a 6-pack of Himalayan pink salt), the mother-son duo behind the brand dry-roasts the seeds in small batches, and they don’t skimp on quality ingredients.—K.K.
Amazi Dried Fruit
Amazi Dried Fruit
Amazon
Amazi makes dried fruit that isn’t just your run-of-the-mill dried mango or apples. The brand makes craveable flavors like ginger turmeric or chili lime jackfruit, moringa hibiscus pineapple, and salted olive oil plantain chips. All the flavors are free from added sugar and boast just three ingredients in every bag. I can’t stop reaching for the ginger lime jackfruit—it’s sticky, chewy, and lightly tangy. Plus, what sets Amazi apart is the brand’s commitment to both sourcing and producing the snacks in Uganda right at the source. —K.K.
Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps

Saffron and Pink Salt Seeded Crisps
Jöey Nordic Seed Crisps
Good Eggs
These hearty crisps feature seven different super seeds, which make them equal parts nutritious, satisfying, and tasty. I find some seeded crisps to be quite bland, but these are well-salted and available in three flavors (Black Truffle, Rosemary and Black Pepper, and Saffron and Pink Salt), all of them delicious. They’re great crumbled into soups or salads or served alongside a charcuterie spread, but I typically eat them straight from the bag when I need a feel-good snack to power me through the rest of my work day. —A.C.
Floura Bars
Floura
Fiber Bars
Floura
Amazon
If you’re looking for grown-up fruit leather that’s actually substantial, Floura Daily Fiber Bars are the snack of your dreams. Apple paste, melon, mango, and pineapple are dotted with almonds, chia seeds, and puffed quinoa for a chewy, fruity bite with a surprising crunch. The most impressive part, besides the taste: each bar packs 15 grams of fiber. Most Americans fall way short of the daily fiber recommendation, and Floura makes closing that gap sweet. I keep a few in my bag for a midday snack or a pre-workout bite that feels like a gourmet supplement. — Olivia Tarantino, senior shopping editor
Only Bean
The Only Bean
Edamame Beans
Amazon
Sometimes I'm not hungry, I'm just looking for something to crunch on. Only Bean's edamame snacks deliver on that front with serious flavor, 13 grams of protein, and 5 grams of fiber per serving. My favorite is the Wasabi Soy: crunchy, salty, umami, and just spicy enough to wake you up mid-afternoon. The lineup also includes Ranch, Buffalo, Sriracha, and plain Sea Salt if you want something more low-key. They come in multi-serving bags, but I prefer the single-serve pouches for hikes or a full day of running errands when I need something to carry me through to dinner. — O.T.
Gimme Seaweed Snacks
Gimme Seaweed
Seaweed Snacks
Amazon
Celery has had a long run as the default healthy snack, but Gimme's roasted seaweed snacks are here to replace it. These crispy, nearly weightless sheets are thinner than paper, yet pack a serious punch of seasoning (my go-to is the Korean BBQ). Each serving also quietly delivers over 100% of your daily vitamin B12 and 35% of your iodine, a micronutrient essential for hormone health. I'll polish off a bag in under a minute, but I also love using the sheets to wrap up a salmon rice bowl when I want to feel like I'm eating sushi. — O.T.

Spicy Chili Protein Snack
Tofu Go
As one of BA’s self-procclaimed snack experts, I try a lot of new snacks throughout the year—but my biggest obsession as of late has been TofuGo, which is essentially shelf-stable compressed tofu meant to be eaten on the go (as the name would suggest). As much as I love protein bars, these are a great alternative for whenever I’m craving something savory. They’re available in two flavors—Soy BBQ and Spicy Chili—and each sleeve has three little individually-wrapped cubes in it, which means you don’t have to commit to downing a whole pack in one sitting—though I usually do. —A.C.
Chomps
Chomps
Beef Jerky Sticks
Amazon (10-pack)
Thrive Market (10-pack)
As an avid hiker, I've eaten my fair share of trail jerky, and Chomps is one of the best of the bunch. Each stick is made from grass-fed beef with a short, recognizable ingredient list and that slightly smoky flavor that any BBQ lover (like myself) will appreciate. Ten grams of protein per stick doesn't hurt either. If beef isn't your thing, the turkey sticks are worth grabbing too. These aren't just a trail snack, though: I keep a few in my desk drawer for meetings that push past lunch, or stash one in my gym bag for the commute home after a workout when hunger hits before I can get to a real meal.—O.T.
