Chipotle is giving away Cilantro Lime Sauce for Father’s Day

Chipotle is rolling out the red carpet for Father’s Day and for all of its nearly 23 million Rewards members, offering a free regular side or a topping of Cilantro Lime Sauce with the purchase of a entrée from June 15 through June 21 in restaurants, on the app, or on the website. Guests who are not yet Rewards members must enroll by June 20 to receive the offer in their Rewards wallet.

A side of Cilantro Lime Sauce is listed for $1.50 in the Louisville, Ky., market.

The Cilantro Lime Sauce was introduced in March and includes cilantro, Mexican spices, sour cream, and roasted jalapeños. It was tested throughout the past year in Los Angeles, generating two-to-three times the order rate of previously tested and launched sauces, according to the company.

In February, CEO Scott Boatwright told analysts that the fast-casual chain is increasing its menu innovation cadence this year, including sauces, to give customers more reasons to visit.

Featuring hand-chopped cilantro, lime, Mexican spices, sour cream and roasted jalapeños, the creamy sauce adds bright flavor with balanced citrus and a subtle kick. Like all Chipotle ingredients, it contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

"In addition to limited-time offers, we will roll out new sauces and build a strong pipeline of innovation in untapped sales layers, like sides and beverages. As new menu items make their way through the stage-gate process, we can pace and sequence these growth layers to provide a long path for transaction growth for years to come," he said.

Also, through August 31, guests can join Chipotle Rewards and opt into “Summer of Extras.” The program features more leaderboards, streaks, and challenges this year compared to its debut last summer.
