Oak & Stone was founded in Florida in 2016, and today the Artistry Restaurants brand has eight locations across the state. It recently expanded into North Texas, opening May 19 in McKinney, a Dallas suburb. Oak & Stone will continue its Texas push with a location in Addison later this year.

The McKinney restaurant is about 6,000 square feet and can accommodate approximately 200 guests. The space was designed to feel warm, energetic, and lived-in, like a friend’s home, with wooden floors and tables, big windows, and a covered patio.

Oak & Stone’s signature feature is a self-pour tap wall, where guests can use a card that allows them to pour from approximately 50 rotating beer, wine, and cocktail selections.

The McKinney location ties into the local community by partnering with Texas vendors, breweries, and distilleries. For example, Oak & Stone enlisted Terry Black’s Barbecue for exclusive menu items, like chicken wings spiced with its dry rub and a pizza featuring Black’s chopped brisket and spicy candied bacon, fresh jalapeños, pickled onions, and barbecue sauce.

Another Texas exclusive is the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers made with street corn and cream cheese filling, bacon, and scallions, served with house-made ranch dressing.

Beyond those new items, the menu sticks to Oak & Stone classics, like Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, pretzel-crusted tuna sashimi, salads, burgers, and a crispy Buffalo chicken sandwich.

Among popular starters are the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and pretzel-crusted tuna sashimi.

There are about a dozen pizzas on the menu, each made with the restaurant’s own 36-hour fermented dough. Options include classics like cheese and pepperoni as well as pies like the Farmer & Pig (prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, hot honey, and garlic-infused herb oil) and one that channels the pasta dish cacio e pepe.

The menu also features a dozen pizzas, from pepperoni to cacio e pepe.

The McKinney opening marks a growth period for Oak & Stone.

“Similarly to Florida, Texas is currently seeing significant growth, and more specifically the northeast quadrant of Dallas,” managing partner Barry Goff said. “While we have a plan to open additional locations in Dallas, and [elsewhere in] Texas, our more immediate focus is within that northeast quadrant in order to sustain growth through our efforts to increase brand awareness in those DMAs.”

There are currently four locations in the pipeline for the next 18 months, with multiple letters of intent out in Texas and Florida, Goff said. He anticipates opening locations in Addison and The Villages (in Central Florida) later this year, and then in Leander (north of Austin) and Winter Park (Central Florida) in 2027.

Beyond growth, the team attempts to zero in on communities with a strong concentration of what it calls “social leaders” when selecting new sites. They define those leaders as “people who actively seek out new experiences, love to gather, and are always looking for their next favorite spot.”
