Expect to see more sauces and beverages from KFC. The company this week unveiled its “next chapter” of innovation, including new menu offerings, a refreshed brand identity, and modernized restaurants. The updates will begin in the UK and Ireland before expanding across Australia and the U.S. throughout the rest of this year. They will eventually roll out to KFC’s 34,000-plus restaurants in more than 150 countries. The menu updates will include a new Dunked menu, with tenders, wings, and sandwiches drenched in sauces. The chain will also ramp up offerings from its global drink platform called Kwench, which includes boba refreshers, shakes, sparkling lemonades, and more. In a statement, CEO Scott Mezvinsky said that these changes represent a clear opportunity to set the standard for modern chicken as the category becomes more crowded.

On the Border closed most of its restaurants over the weekend. The Mexican chain shut down all 27 of its remaining company-owned locations, leaving it with just 5 U.S. restaurants. It comes just over a year after On the Border was acquired out of bankruptcy by Pappas Restaurants. Pappas now says it is exploring strategic options for the brand. On the Border has been shrinking rapidly since 2024, when it began the year with 120 restaurants.
