Popeyes has added an 8-piece Butterfly Shrimp to its $5 Faves menu, available in four flavors — Buffalo, Garlic Parm, Lemon Pepper, and Ghost Pepper. The protein is available on the $5 Faves menu lineup through the summer alongside Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich, three-piece tenders, and three-piece signature chicken.

Popeyes also recently added its signature sandwich to its $5 Faves menu as the company sharpens its focus on its core menu and its value positioning after five consecutive quarters of negative same-store sales, including -6.5% in the first quarter.

President Peter Perdue, who was named to the role late last year, recently said the chain’s barrage of limited-time offers in 2025 came at the expense of “everyday value.”

“A lot of the LTOs attracted new guests that didn’t come back. It was at the expense of our core guests. We haven’t given (core guests) the service or everyday value that they deserve,” Perdue said.

With the addition of Butterfly Shrimp to the value menu, Popeyes joins a growing list of restaurant chains that have added shrimp to the menu in recent weeks, including CAVA, Roti, Logan’s, and Golden Corral. David Maloni, senior director of commodities with Arrowstream, said shrimp is experiencing historically strong imports.

Popeyes has also brought back cheese bites for a limited time. The snack-sized side item features hand-breaded white cheddar cheese and is available for $3.99.
