This week on Nation's Restaurant News, the top story was “Cotton Patch Cafe acquired by Local Favorite Restaurant.” The Southlake, Texas-based, 46-unit casual-dining chain has been acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants, a multi-concept operator located about 30 minutes away in Dallas. The seller is Altamont Capital Partners, the Bay Area private-equity firm that acquired Cotton Patch in 2015. Financial terms were not disclosed.
In other news, Jersey Mike’s filed documents with federal securities regulators for a $100 million initial public offering on Thursday, bringing one of the restaurant industry’s most consistent growth stories to public company investors.
Also, Denny’s is hoping to make customers nostalgic with its latest marketing push. The diner chain last week unveiled a new ad campaign inspired by classic TV sitcoms that will roll out through the rest of the year. The first spot, “Welcome to Denny’s,” plays like the intro to a sitcom, introducing a cast of characters as well as Denny’s new lineup of Slammin’ Meal Deals for under $10, backed by saxophone and a laugh track.
