Twin Peaks is out of bankruptcy and ready to grow again. The casual-dining sports-bar chain has new owners after being sold in bankruptcy court. It is also enjoying some strong sales recently as the company is getting the benefit of World Cup viewers. The chain has been adding locations this year, and is about to open locations in Omaha and Kissimmee, Florida. The chain had spent the past several months in a state of uncertainty, brought on by heavy debt taken out by its former parent company, Fat Brands.

A fortunate doorknock led to one of McDonald’s most enduring supplier partnerships. Bama Companies, which was created as a small pie company in Texas in the 1920s, is responsible for McDonald’s global sales of pies, including the fried apple pie the company will start selling this week. Bama Companies first developed that relationship in the 1960s when Paul Marshall knocked on a McDonald’s door only to find one Ray Kroc himself giving a presentation to prospective operators. Ray asked Paul to make some of his pies on the spot, and the result led to a relationship that has lasted more than 60 years.

A big change is coming for restaurants and bars that show NFL games. Starting this season, the NFL Sunday Ticket package for non-local games will transition from DirecTV’s satellite service to EverPass, a streaming platform. The switch has raised concerns among restaurants who say it will be costly and complicated, including the National Restaurant Association, which is calling for at least a one-year pause to give operators more time to prepare. EverPass won the rights to Sunday Ticket in 2023 and has shared it with DirecTV until this year, when negotiations to extend their agreement fell through.
